Did you know that a student can attend CPCC's two year engineering courses, then transfer to UNCC and complete a 4 year bachelors to get a degree in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering. All credit hours are transferable.

That is what the CEEET Department that I teach Instrumentation is all about.

The courses are ABET approved (ABET, Inc., the recognized accredited for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology, is a federation of 28 professional and technical societies representing these fields. Among the most respected accreditation organizations in the U.S., ABET has provided leadership and quality assurance in higher education for over 70 years.)

But so what? you may ask...Well, for one thing the cost to attend CPCC is considerable less than attendance any of the universities would be.  For another, it is local and has modern up to date equipment as teaching aids.

Why am I telling you this? Because we need YOUR help. The college needs to link up with firms in the area that have a position that can be filled by the graduates of ether the two year Associates Degreed course.. or.. want to help students to get a head start on a four your degreed one.

I personally invite you to take a tour of the ATC (Advanced Technical Center) building. Most who have toured the facility were pleasantly surprised with CPCC's capabilities. Contact Me 704-568-9598 or Jeff Wyco at 704-330-5496 to arrange a personalized visit.

New to the US, but NOT new

We are on the verge of introducing a remarkable product to the American Engineering and Design firms. I say remarkable because it does all the things that I have wanted to do for a project and never could quite get there before.

The last project I was Lead Engineer for a Parsons was a disaster as far as documentation was concerned.  We tried to use a piece of software that was suppose to allow us to develop the require documentation, IE: instrument Index,  Loop sheets and Specification sheets from the application, however, there was numerous problems with the software including report generation that just didn't work well  and in the end we had to generate the loop sheets manually.

I had previously written the database program that Parsons used in the Charlotte office, however, the advent of Windows knocked it out of the box because IT said the new stuff could do the job better. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and we stumbled along as best we could. Then someone said we they had the answer to our dreams, an application that could almost do it all and in the end it was a nightmare.

I stumbled on to  IDesignOffice and I am genuinely impressed. Take a peek at it, click on their logo below and let me know if you are as impressed as I was!!!

Instrumentation Design Office (IDO) is software for creating and managing industrial instrumentation and control systems design data and documentation including instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, termination diagrams, hookup drawings, I/O lists, instrument index, cable schedules, Bill of Materials and other reports.
